Many Fashion Design Institutions Today Are Corrupt and Misleading

These days, many people who enroll in fashion design programs have no idea what they are getting into. Sadly, many people don’t make a lot of effort to thoroughly research these programs, and are easily brainwashed by fashion institutions. Unfortunately, by the time they realize that something is off or when they start questioning their fashion school, it is often far too late because their school has taken all of their money. This is a vicious cycle that never ends and nobody wants to talk about it in the fashion industry, including the provincial and federal governments. At VSC fashion design studio, over the years, we have met hundreds of these fashion school graduates who come to VSC for assistance because they have no real technical skills and no experience to offer to potential employers and, as a result, they are having a very difficult time finding employment in the fashion industry. These fashion graduates are coming from prestigious and very expensive design schools that have robbed them of their savings and livelihood. All of these elite fashion graduates are losing between $50,000 and upwards of over $200,000. Most often, these fashion school graduates arrive at VSC asking us to retrain them from the beginning, except they don’t have sufficient funds to enroll in our program because their school has cleaned out their entire bank account and put them into huge debt. The most shocking part is that these fashion graduates often ask us for discounts when they are enquiring about our fashion design long program. Unfortunately, VSC is not a school, and we strongly advise and highly recommend that all of these fashion school graduates go back to their previous fashion schools and demand a full refund because their schools have failed to deliver the results that they paid for…

Fashion Design School Will Wear You Out Mentally, Emotionally, Financially and Waste Your Time

Luckily, VSC is NOT a school. Fashion schools today will wear you out mentally, physically, emotionally and financially, and you will end up wasting your time learning very little or, even worse, nothing. Why waste so much money and time, and accomplish nothing? At VSC, our lessons are structured, focused, fun, innovative, creative and productive. Our clients pay a lot less but learn a lot more, plus they receive great Bonus Gifts (up to a value of $15,000.00) to help build their business, while making money and learning important technical skills at the same time. When you invest your money learning a real trade skill at VSC, you pay a lot less but you gain a whole lot more in confidence, experience, technical skills and business acumen. In addition, you will also receive plenty of contacts/referrals for manufacturers in South East Asia, to help you produce your samples and production lines at a fraction of the usual cost and with a faster delivery time. Why would you want to waste 2-4 years of your life and spend so much money at a fashion design school that cannot guarantee your success or help you launch your own fashion line/business? Furthermore, your future employers don’t care whether you have a fashion degree or diploma, so why would you allow these fashion institutions to control your mind, fate and destiny, but, even worse, ruin your entire life by making you take on these crazy, huge student loans? These fashion schools are a hazard to your health and fashion career. We strongly advise people to think outside the box and do your research thoroughly; otherwise, you may become their next victim.

In Fashion, Like and Love Are Not the Same

There is a big difference between “like” and “love” in fashion. If you want a career in fashion design, liking means that you are just doing it as a hobby, but, when you say, “I would love to become a fashion designer”, it means you are dead serious. So, next time, if you are unsure whether this is the right career for yourself, listen to yourself carefully because your gut instinct is always right.

Fashion Schools Always Love to Create Their Own False Narrative

Fashion institutions always love to create their own false narrative, when it comes to a fashion designer’s salary. Many schools mislead their students and graduates about how much fashion designers make these days when they leave school. Sadly, many new graduates will realistically start at minimum wage when they graduate from their school because they don’t have the right skills to do any highly-trained job nor do they have any experience to offer to their future employers. Even the most fortunate graduate will be compensated no more than $15-$19/hour, if they are very lucky, but that is not enough to survive and to live these days in this economy. If you have more than five years of experience, you will likely be making around $20-$25/hour, but, if you have more than 20 years of experience, you can expect to earn $30/hour. However, if you are a fashion design entrepreneur, your starting annual income will most likely be between $50,000 and $100,000. In other words, you don’t need a fashion degree or diploma, if you become a fashion design entrepreneur because, now, you will be working for yourself and you will be your own boss, which means that you no longer need to go to any of these fashion institutions to receive your fashion academic training. Instead, you should invest your money in yourself, and get your practical and technical skill training at VSC. We can help you to become a fashion designer entrepreneur in less than a year and get your product launched at the same time. At VSC, we guarantee results, without getting you into debt or making you go broke. You will make far, far more money working for yourself than working for someone else. Why make your boss rich when you can work for yourself and make yourself richer than the people who work in a boring and depressing 9-to-5 office job?

Sewers, Tailors, Seamstresses and Designers Will Be in High Demand in the Next 10 Years

Many garment factory sewers and designers will be retiring in the next 10-15 years and, sadly, the next generation of young people is not following in the footsteps of their parents. Many skilled workers are aging rapidly and the majority of these experienced workers are all in their early and mid-fifties. As each year passes, these skilled workers are retiring and there are not enough new skilled workers to replace them, at the current time. As a matter of fact, this is detrimental to the entire fashion industry, but, on the bright side, for those who are getting into the fashion industry now, in about 10-15 years, skilled and experienced workers will become a high-demand commodity. In economic terms, less skilled workers entering the workforce means more pay for everyone in the fashion industry. In about ten to fifteen years from now, fashion designers, pattern makers, alterationists and sewers will be highly-sought-after skilled workers. There will be a huge demand for their skills. In other words, these jobs will be highly compensated because every employer will be competing to recruit and hire the small number of remaining skilled workers, which means these skilled workers can demand a lot higher wages. Unfortunately, an investment in robotic technology is far too expensive for any North American company that wishes to replace human skilled workers.

Covid-19 Has Changed the World and Everyone Should Thank the Sewers for Their Contribution

Life in quarantine is no fun for anyone, no matter how old you are. However, fashion design and sewing are things that have kept all of us alive and in good spirits. Many people have become involved in sewing masks and hospital gowns. Sewers have saved many lives on this planet. We should all thank the sewers who have sewn billions of masks to keep all of us safe from catching Covid-19. We should really thank every sewer on the planet for their contribution. Thanks so much for ALL of your hard work in keeping us safe from Covid-19! Two things I learned from this our Covid-19 experience is resilience and perseverance. I believe that every person is built with both resilience and perseverance built into their DNA. Life is never easy, no matter what decade you are living in, but we all should be grateful that we are all still living and that we will pass through this dark storm soon. You should always stay positive and keep yourself busy, no matter how dark the days may be. There will be brighter days ahead to look forward to, in the coming months and years. I find looking at the blue sky everyday really helps me to forget the dark days of the past. Keep living and enjoy your life to the fullest because life is really short.

EVERY INDUSTRY SECTOR IN THE 21ST CENTURY IS COMPETITIVE, NOT JUST THE FASHION INDUSTRY

As a fashion instructor and a designer, I have been hearing people tell me, all the time, for the last three decades of my career, “the fashion industry is so competitive”, and it is. However, the one thing that everyone always seems to forget is that every industry in this world is competitive, NOT just fashion, such as real estate, internet, technology, banking, medical, food, farming, pharmaceutical, restaurant, travel, hotel, and so on. Many people seem to forget that life is about making tough choices and it has always been about survival. No matter what career choice you make or business you start, you are guaranteed to face stiff competition from all sides. Today, no industry is perfect or easy to get into. People need to change their way of thinking and their attitude, if they want to survive on this planet. Fashion is no different from any other industry; you always need to be resilient and be adaptable to whatever changes may occur in your lifetime. People are afraid of competition because they are afraid of failure, and perhaps because they cannot handle the pressure. Speaking from my own personal experience, I have always liked the competitive nature of the fashion industry because it keeps me sharp and creative. I have been competing in the fashion industry for my entire three decades-long career, and I am still here. Competition is not for everyone, but, if you thrive under pressure and you are well prepared for any challenge, you are bound to succeed, and, when you succeed, that is how you know that you are one of the best. As a human being, you have to evolve and accept competition, in order to survive and be successful in your chosen field…
