Find your French Draping level by using VSC French Draping rating categories. This is the most accurate French Draping rating system available.

Beginner: The client has zero or some basic skills, knowledge and experience in draping and sewing.

IntermediateThe client has moderate skills, knowledge and experience in draping, pattern drafting and sewing. The client has reasonable knowledge of how to pleat, tuck and ruch in draping. The client can design and drape different cuts, styles, necklines, and shapes, and manipulate darts.

Advance: The client has good skills, knowledge and experience in draping, pattern drafting and sewing. The client has a solid foundation in draping princess style lines, and asymmetrical designs, as well as bias cut designs and styles.

Professional: The client is experienced and is making a professional living from her/his fashion design skills.

Program Title: The Mini Beginner French Draping Program

French Draping Rating Category: Beginner

Program Description: This program will focus on the basic principles of French Draping. The client will learn how to drape muslin fabric by using the pinning, pleating and ruching techniques to create basic designs on a designer’s dress form. The client will drape and design up to two different basic garments in this program. The client will design, drape, trace, cut and sew their work onto a complete muslin fabric mock-up. The client will have sufficient skills to drape any simple top and basic skirt. The client will receive French draping textbook notes.

Program Duration: 2 classes (each class is 3 hours)

Cost: $499 plus taxes (includes all textbook notes, white drafting paper, Manila hard paper, muslin fabric, pattern hooks, notions and zippers)

Program Title: The Mini Intermediate French Draping Program

French Draping Rating Category: Intermediate

Program Description: This program will focus more on complex French Draping skills, such as designing and draping skirts and dresses and will learn how to drape muslin fabric to design asymmetrical and bias-cut styles. The client will drape and design up to two different garments in this program. The client will design, drape, trace, cut and sew their creation into muslin fabric or an actual fabric mock-up. The client will learn more advanced draping skills to design and drape complex garments. The client will be able to create up to two complete garments in muslin or in the actual fabric by the end of the program and will receive French draping textbook notes.

Program Duration: 3 classes (each class is 3 hours)

Cost: $749 plus taxes (includes textbook notes, white drafting paper, Manila hard paper, muslin fabric, pattern hooks, notions and zippers)

Program Title: The Mini Advance French Draping Program

French Draping Rating Category: Advance

Program Description: This program will focus more on complex French Draping skills, such as designing and draping a pant and a jacket. The client will design, drape, trace, cut and sew their creation into muslin fabric or an actual fabric mock-up. The client will be able to create up to two complete garments in muslin or in the actual fabric by the end of the program. The client will receive French draping textbook notes.

Program Duration: 3 classes (each class is 3 hours)
