VSC Pattern Grading Skill and Level Rating Categories:
Find your pattern grading level by using VSC’s pattern grade rating categories. This is the most accurate pattern grading rating system available.
Beginner: The client has zero or some basic skills, knowledge and experience in grading.
Intermediate: The client has moderate skills, knowledge and experience in pattern drafting, sewing, and pattern grading. The client has basic knowledge in universal grading; she/he knows how to grade basic tops, pants and skirts.
Advanced: The client has good skills, knowledge and experience in pattern drafting, sewing and pattern grading. The client has a good understanding of standard universal grading techniques and she/he knows how to grade complex tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets and coats.
Professional: The client is experienced and is making a professional living from her/his fashion design skills.

Program Title: Standard Universal Pattern Grading Technique Short Program
Pattern Grade Rating Category: Beginner OR Intermediate
Program Description: This program will focus on the basic foundations and fundamentals of hand-manual grading techniques used in the fashion industry, before the Gerber system was introduced to the world. The client will have the option of using their own purchased commercial pattern or their own set of sloper/block patterns to learn how to grade using the standard universal method. The client will grade top, sleeve, skirt, pant and simple dress in 3 different sizes. The client will also grade, cut, sew and finish one of their favorite garments. The client will receive up to 200 pages of manual grading textbook notes in this program
Program Duration: 4 classes (each class is 3 hours)
Cost: $999 plus taxes (includes grading notes, white drafting paper, Manila hard paper, zippers, pattern hooks, muslin fabric and notions)
Program Title: Custom Pattern Grading Short Program
Pattern Grade Rating Category: Beginner OR Intermediate
Program Description: This program is specifically designed for a client who wants to learn how to grade custom sizes. The client will measure a real person and use a pre-made pattern to custom grade the pattern to fit the actual person’s size. The client can use their own purchased commercial pattern or their own set of sloper/block patterns to grade. The client will learn to grade a simple top, pant and dress. The client will grade, cut and sew and finish one of their favorite garments. The client will gain valuable knowledge and techniques in custom grading. She/he will receive up to 200 textbook notes on manual grading with all the formulas and size charts.
Program Duration: 3 classes (each class is 3 hours)

Program Title: The Complete Pattern Grading Technique Long Program
Pattern Grade Rating Category: Beginner OR Intermediate
Program Description: This entire program is designed for a client who wants to learn both the standard and the custom hand-manual grading techniques thoroughly, without spending thousands of dollars on Gerber technology. The client will learn all the tricks and trade secrets used by pattern graders in the fashion industry. The client will grade everything from tops to bottoms, as well as dresses, pants and jackets for women or men or children in three different sizes. The client will fully understand and be able to use both standard and custom grading techniques to achieve the perfect fit and size. The client will receive up to 1,000 pages on all grading techniques, including the Gerber Manual Instruction Booklet. The client will grade, cut and sew, and finish up to 6 complete garments in this program.
