Quite often, I get asked why did I choose fashion design as my occupation?  Well, I chose this career out of passion and practicality.  This career has allowed me to travel to countless cities and countries all around the globe to do all of my sourcing, collecting ideas and building rapport with all my industry contacts.  However, the best part of my job is meeting great people and making new friends that support my business and success.

I truly believe that when you choose fashion design as a profession, you must always remind yourself that your heart and mind must be on the same page; otherwise, you are in the wrong industry.  Mentally, you must be serious, committed, disciplined and know what your priorities are.  As for your heart, you have to love the art of making clothes and sewing.

The most important advice I would give is… if you love sewing then this is the perfect career for you, but, if you hate it, then you are picking the wrong career!  Fashion designers spend 95% of their time pattern drafting, cutting and sewing garments to sell and fit their clients.  You will be spending a lot of time on the sewing machine creating garments for your clients to pay all your bills.

If you do not like sewing, this is the wrong profession for you.
